Oscar 2008: Children of Slumdog Millionaire Will Attend Oscar Show

Feb 20, 2009–The children who appeared in “Slumdog Millionaire” will attend the Oscar Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.  Director Danny Boyle's rags-to-riches story set and shot in the slums of Mumbai has been nominated for 10 Oscar awards, including best picture and best director.  “The kids are on their way to the Oscars! Everyone is very excited!” Boyle said.

Oscar 2008: New Technology for Show's Red Carpet

Feb 20, 2009–New technology will give several pre-Oscar shows and their audiences a more detailed look at the action on the red carpet.  E!'s Oscar preview show, “Live From the Red Carpet,” will introduce the Star Tracker, which will follow celebs in real time, identifying them with a graphic as they make their way through the crowd. 

Oscar 2008: Slumdog Millionaire Prospects

You may recall that Fox Searchlight had acquired the Bollyhood-Hollywood picture from Warner, a studio that had too many releases last year and might not have been confident about this particular one.  "Slumdog Millionaire" was actually a production of Warner Independent Pictures (WIP), which folded over a year ago.

 

 

Oscar Actors: Winslet, Kate–Another Big Year?

It's rather shocking to realize that the extremely gifted Kate Winslet is only 33, considering the stellar career she has had over the past 15 years, including six Oscar nominations. This season, Winslet shines again in two different films, “Revolutionary Road,” directed by Sam Mendes (her husband) and “The Reader” by Stephen Daldry.  So far, she has won two Golden Globe Awards (lead and supporting for the two films), as well as Supporting Actress Awards from the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
