American Fiction

Jeffrey Wright is one of the frontrunners to secure a Best Actor Oscar nomination, based on his work in American Fiction.

Cord Jefferson’s directing debut has received high praise upon its debut at the Toronto Fest. Wright in particular is a standout due to his performance as author Thelonious ‘Monk’ Ellison.

American Fiction is a satirical comedy–much of the humor and commentary on race and entertainment is effective thanks to Wright’s delivery and commitment to the role.

Although Jeffrey Wright has been working in Hollywood for three decades, this would be his first Oscar nomination.
Securing the nomination would be milestone for his career, as well as propelling diversity for actors of color at the Oscars. history.
