Salt of the Earth: Directed by Wim Wenders and Salgado


Sony Classic has acquired Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado’s “The Salt of thte Earth,” which won Un Certain Regard’s Special Prize Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Fest.

The documentary examines the life and work of Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Salgado, who travels the world to shoot natural phenomena, through the eyes of his son, Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, and co-director Wim Wenders (winner of the 1984 Cannes Palm dÓr, “Paris, Texas”)

For the past four decades, the distinguished photographer has witnessed major events of recent history: International conflicts, genocide, starvation, mass exodus.

He is now rmbsrking on the discovery of pristine territories, of wild fauna and flora, and of stunning landscapes as part of a huge project, meant as a trbute to the beauty of the planet.


Salgado’s life and work, which are inseparable, are revealed through poignant comentary and interviews conducted by his son, Juliano, who joined his father in his latest travels, and by Wenders, who is himself a photographer and documentarian, blessed with sharp eyes.
