My Oscar Book:

Amazon MGM has landed After the Hunt, with Roberts attached to the movie that has Guadagnino directing from a script by Nora Garrett. The project hails from Imagine Entertainment and centers on a college professor who faces a crossroads in confronting her own dark past when a standout student makes an accusation against one of her colleagues.

Imagine’s Allan Mandelbaum brought the script to the production company and worked with CAA to secure Roberts and Guadagnino. Guadagnino serves as a producer alongside Imagine’s Mandelbaum and Brian Grazer.

Roberts’ recent film credits include 2022’s Universal romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise opposite George Clooney and last year’s Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind that co-starred Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

Guadagnino directed the superb Call Me by Your Name (2017), the mediocre Suspiria(2018) and the weak Bones and All(2022).

After the Hunt reunites him with Amazon MGM Studios, which releases his Zendaya-led film, Challengers, on April 26. With its launch having been delayed due to the actors strike, Challengers also stars Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist in the romantic thriller focusing on a love triangle among a trio of tennis players.
