The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) has named Barry Jenkins’ high acclaimed coming of age tale, Moonlight, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Cinematography.
The Los Angeles-set musical La La Land was runner-up in five categories, and won best music-score for composer Justin Hurwitz and lyricists Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
International performers in foreign-language films also won recognition: Isabelle Huppert was named best actress for two lead roles, in Elle and Things to Come.
The Handmaiden won two significant awards: best foreign language film and production design.
