Tom Hardy, very much in demand now, told the USA Today that his experience filming the big studio romantic comedy “This Means War” made him averse to the genre.
“I didn’t understand how you could do something which is so much fun and be so miserable doing it,” he told the newspaper about the 2012 movie, where he said he felt like an “other” on set. “I probably won’t do a romantic comedy again, do you know what I mean?”
“This Means War,” which also starred Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine, was critically panned and flopped Stateside. The $65 million production only earned $54.8 million in the U.S., but did strong business in foreign markets, which raised its worldwide gross to $156.5 million.
Hardy was promoting his new gritty crime drama “The Drop” with director Michaël R. Roskam during the interview.
Referring to a future hypothetical rom-com, Roskam playfully asked “So you won’t do mine?”
“With you, it would be different!” Hardy said.
