David Cronenberg films seem to take the euphemism of “got under their skin” literally.
For decades, he has given us nightmares and visions that operate on intellectual as well as visceral levels.
He became first known for his “body horror” flicks, Shivers, Rabid, and The Brood,
Cronenberg’s more recent output focus on more “legitimate” plots like the outstanding A History of Violence (0ne of his three best films) and the underrated genre bending mob tale, Eastern Promises, starring frequent collaborator Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts, both in top form.
