Cary Grant’s original accent has changed as a result of moving out of Bristol to London with the Pender Troupe, where he worked in many music halls in both the U.K.

When he relocated to Hollywood, his accent continued to evolve. and the U.S.

It eventually became known what some linguists termed as a transatlantic, or mid-Atlantic accent.

He said that he was drawn to acting because of a “great need to be liked and admired.”
