Crawford: The trick is not to lose your identity completely. To draw on the characters when you need them: the charm, humor, strength, this and that. We didn’t knpw it, but we grew through the years, playing characters.
In his real life, Clark Gabe took the humor and sex from the characters that he played.
Many stars learned how to behave in real-life from their on screen role, though not so consciously as Crawford and Gable.
