The Actor SAG Awards: All Foreign-Language Performances Shockingly Snubbed

Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”) and Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”) are among the biggest snubs as the Oscar race continues to take shape.
Other surprising snubs include Adam Sandler in “Jay Kelly,” and the entire cast of “Sentimental Value” (Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgard, Elle Fanning and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas).
All foreign-language movies and performances were shut out of the 2026 races in perhaps the most shocking snub of all.
Thus of all groups nominating for awards, SAG s the most domestic and patriotically American.
Wagner Moura, who won best actor honors at Cannes and is frontrunner for an Oscar nomination for “The Secret Agent,” was also snubbed by the Actor Awards. The SAG-AFTRA voting body is far more domestic than the international make-up of the Academy’s actors branch.
With nominations from the Critics Choice Awards, a win from the New York Film Critics Circle, Moura still remains major contender going for Oscar nomination.
Jay Kelly Actors: Clooney and Sandler Snubbed
Also snubbed was Adam Sandler for “Jay Kelly,” the actor’s first big miss of the season after landing in the best supporting actor categories at the Critics Choice Awards. The film’s leading man, George Clooney, was also snubbed, as was the movie’s star-studded cast in the main ensemble category.
