Suppose you won an Oscar, what would you say?  How would you grab your one-minute in the spotlight?   Would you follow the late, great Maureen Stapleton (Reds), who thanked “Everybody I ever met in my entire life.”  Would you become more religious, as Lili Zanuck, producer of the 1989 Oscar-winner Driving Miss Daisy: “I hope I'm as religious the rest of the year as I've been the last two months.”

Oscar Directors: Mulligan, Robert–To Kill a Mockingbird–Dies at 83.

Dec 22, 2008–Robert Mulligan, who directed the 1962 Oscar-winning drama, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” has died at 83.  

Oscar 2008: Phoenix Film Critics Select Slumdog Millionaire

Dec 16, 2008–The Phoenix Film Critics Society named Danny Boyle's “Slumdog Millionaire” best picture of the year at their 9th annual awards.  “Slumdog” received six of the honors handed out by the group, including director, adapted screenplay, editing, breakthrough performance for Dev Patel and best performance by a youth (male) for Ayush Mahesh Khedekar.

Oscar 2008: San Diego Film Critics Honor Slumdog Millionaire

Dec 16, 2008–Slumdog Millionaire” was named by the San Diego Critics Society as Best Picture of 2008.  In addition to the top prize, “Slumdog” also won for director for Boyle, adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and score.

Oscar 2008: Boston Film Critics Tie Slumdog Millionaire and Wall-E

Dec 14, 2008–The Boston Society of Film Critics voting resulted in several ties.  At the org's annual meeting Sunday , the voting for best picture resulted in Pixar's “Wall-E” and Danny Boyle's “Slumdog Millionaire” sharing top honors.
