David O. Russell is the director of "The Fighter," the biopic of boxer Micky Ward, starring Mark Wahlberg. The film, which also stars Christian Bale and Amy Adams, is being released by Paramount on December 10.
Says Russell, “I wanted to tell the story of these people and their world. They are in some ways heartbreaking, in some ways hilarious, yet always very, very real.”
Christian Bale stars as Dicky Eklund in “The Fighter,” directed by David O. Russell. The film, which also stars Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams, is being released by Paramount on December 10.
“I was initially worried it might be hard to have him on the set, but that isn’t the way it was at all,” says Bale. “I could never stand by quietly & watch an actor play me, but Dicky did, he really came to trust the portrayal I was giving of him.”
Sofia Coppola is the writer/director of "Somewhere," starring Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning. The film, which is Coppola's fourth film, is being released by Focus Features on December 22.
Coppola states, "It’s funny; Somewhere was a temporary title, but it just stuck. Since I wanted the movie to be like a tone poem of this time in this guy’s life, it reflected his knowing he needs to go somewhere – but he doesn’t know where exactly."
David Lindsay-Abaire is the writer of both the stage and film versions of "Rabbit Hole." The film, which stars Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart, is being released by Lionsgate on December 17.
“I’ve worked incredibly hard as a writer to push against the possible dourness of this story,” he says. “That matches my experience, which is that people don’t lose their sense of humor even in the saddest of times. I think that the Corbetts were always funny people and now that they happen to be going through a tragic loss, that doesn’t just go away. It was important to me that moments in the film feel as buoyant, humorous and engaging as the characters themselves.”
