Indie Companies: Zeitgeist–Films of Our Times–MoMA Celebration

July 9, 2008–As part of the month-long survey “Zeitgeist: The Films of Our Times,” celebrating the New York distributor‚Äôs 20th anniversary, director Atom Egoyan will be on hand to introduce a screening of his film, Calendar, on Saturday, July 12 at 6pm in MoMA's Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters/Theater 2. Following the film, Egoyan will conduct a q&a interview with Zeitgeist founders Nancy Gerstman and Emily Russo.

Movie Culture: Video-DVD Stores Obsolete

April 12, 2008–Regular trips to your local video rental store may be a thing of the past. Netflix and Blockbuster are already offering DVD rental service by mail. Amazon.com, Microsoft's Xbox Live, and Netflix deliver movies directly to the PC. TiVo, Vudu, and Apple TV, not to mention cable and satellite companies, are doing the same for TV sets.

Movie Critics: Impact on Industry and Indies

March 25, 2008–the Long Island-based Newsday announced that 36 newsroom employees took a buyout offer. Three of those leaving Newsday were the movie editor Pat Wiedenkeller, and longtime movie critics Jan Stuart and Gene Seymour.
