Gay Pride Month
Lisa Cholodenko’s comedy The Kids Are All Right concerns a lesbian couple (Annette Bening and Julianne Moore) who have their peaceful domesticity challenged when their children (Mia Wasikowska, Josh Hutcherson) seek out their sperm donor (Mark Ruffalo).

The Kids Are All Right was one of the first mainstream films to showcase the recent changes in American kinship–a rainbow family.
In addition to achieving box-office success, it also received critical acclaim, garnering Oscar nods for two of its actors (see below).
It was also nominated for the Best Picture Oscar, one of the few lesbian films to achieve this distinction.
