Alchemy, the independent distributor formerly known as Millennium Entertainment, picked up the North American rights to Zipper.
A political thriller, Zipper centers around Sam Ellis, played by Patrick Wilson, a federal prosecutor with a potential political future. His past with a high-end escort unravels a twisted road of addiction and introduces new demons that threaten to unravel his life.
The deal is in the low seven figures, between $1 million and $2 million according to sources, and includes a significant theatrical release for later this year as part of a multi-platform plan.
This is the second Sundance deal for the company, which on the first weekend picked up Strangerland, starring Nicole Kidman.
Mora Stephens wrote and directed the thriller, which also stars Lena Headey, Richard Dreyfuss, Ray Winstone, John Cho and Dianna Agron.
Zipper is produced by Darren Arnofsky, Marina Grasic, Scott Franklin, Mark Heyman, Joel Viertel,R. Bryan Wright and Amy Mitchell-Smith.
