WeCrashed (2022): App;e TV+ Series, Starring Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto

Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto in Apple TV+’s ‘WeCrashed’: SXSW 2022

The two Oscar winning actors play WeWork cofounder Adam Neumann and his wife Rebekah in the drama chronicling the company’s meteoric rise and its precipitous decline.

There are eight episodes of Apple TV+’s WeCrashed.

The investor Cameron (O-T Fagbenle) shares with his Benchmark Capital colleague Bruce (Anthony Edwards) his skepticism about WeWork’s business model. “We’ve seen this movie before, haven’t we?” Cameron points out. “So what’s different this time?”

Bruce insists it’s Adam (Jared Leto), the company’s ambitious and magnetic cofounder, who makes the difference.

The series narrative is familiar, having been detailed in actual news stories about Neumann, or in other recent series of corporate shadiness and grift.

WeCrashed has little to add to what most alert viewers already know.

The series was created by Drew Crevello and Lee Eisenberg, with episodes directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Crazy, Stupid, Love), Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (American Splendor) and others.

WeCrashed follows a familiar rise-fall formula, tracing Neumann’s journey from a flailing “serial entrepreneur” hawking baby clothes and collapsible high heels to the famous CEO of a company worth $47 billion, to his swift decline into notoriety after an IPO filing exposed the corrupt excesses of WeWork’s culture, and of Adam himself.
