Set in New York City, Oliver Stone’s Wall Street is one of the 1980s’ most quotable films.
The plot follows Bud Fox, a young stockbroker hopeful, who’s taken under the wing of the experienced Gordon Gekko. But Gekko is no friend to Fox, even if the latter doesn’t see it at first.
Gekko is a money-obsessed character, with no issues of ethics or morality, because they are simply irrelevant.
That’s part of what makes him so good at what he does. Major guiding principle of his consistent (mis)behavior is greed, or greed for greed’s sake.
In fact, he’s the best guy around at playing and manipulating people until everything they once had becomes his–no matter what means and methods are used.
