George Sluizer’s original kidnapping film is as disturbing for the questions it is asking (and never answers) as it is for a finale where the truth is shockingly told.
The story begins with a young Dutch couple on vacation in France.
Soon the girl disappears at a gas station, leaving her boyfriend baffled as to what happened.
He spends years looking for her as the film gets increasingly hopeless and unsettling.
The original is far superior to the 1993 American remake, also helmed by Sluizer.
