Three Days of the Condor (1975): Sydney Pollack’s Conspiracy Political Thriller, Starring Redford and Faye Dunaway

Directed by Sydney Pollack, Three Days of the Condor is  a commercial political thriller, starring Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway. 

The screenplay by Lorenzo Semple Jr. and David Rayfiel was based on James Grady’s 1974 novel, Six Days of the Condor.

Set in New York City and Washington, D.C., the film is about a bookish, rather innocent CIA researcher (Redford)who discovers that all his co-workers are murdered.  Trying to outwit those responsible, he first needs to figure out whom he can really trust and whom he cannot.

The secondary cast includes Cliff Robertson and Max von Sydow.

The film was nominated for the Best Film Editing Oscar.

One of the year’s most popular films (the 8th top-grosser), Three Days of the Condor earned over  $40 million at the domestic box-office.
