Scott Derrickson is directing the horror thriller The Black Phone, starring Ethan Hawke for Blumhouse and Universal. It will be in theaters on January 28, 2022.
Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange) directed from a screenplay he wrote with longtime collaborator C. Robert Cargill. The movie is based on the award-winning short story by Joe Hill.
The Black Phone also stars Jeremy Davis and Madeleine McGraw.
Derrickson, Cargill and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum are producing the picture. Joe Hill is an executive producer.
The project unites Hawke with the filmmakers and producer of Blumhouse’s 2012 horror smash Sinister.
