Osciloscope Laboratories has released the first U.S. trailer for writer-director Anna Muylaert’s The Second Mother.
The film hits theaters on August 28.
The Brazilian film won a special jury award for acting in the world cinema competition for its two stars, Regina Case and Camila Mardila.
“The Second Mother” also won the Panorama audience award at the Berlin Film Fest.
“The Second Mother”(“Que Horas Ela Volta?” in Portuguese) centers on a hard-working live-in housekeeper (played by Case), in Sao Paulo. When her estranged daughter (Mardila) suddenly appears, the class barriers within the home are thrown into disarray and conflict.
