Ronin (1998): Frankenheimer Directs De Niro and Jean Reno in Action Thriller

Though not one of John Frankenheimer’s best films, Ronin, his new thriller adventure starring Robert De Niro and Jean Reno, is smart and engaging enough to merit a look at the twists and turns of professional camaraderie and social friendship.

In this suspenseful actioner, written by J.D. Zeik, Richard Weisz, and playwright David Mamet, an international team of former intelligence agents and Cold War warriors meet in a warehouse.

Like the expert and courageous Samurai of the past, these modern day Ronin embark on a covert mission (their final one) to recover a mysterious briefcase for an unknown employer.
