This early Rock N’ Roll movie, directed by Will Price, was made on a low budget, but it features Tuesday Weld (in her stunning debut), Teddy Randazzo, Alan Freed, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.
The movie became famous due to the appearances by The Moonglows, Chuck Berry, the Flamingos, Johnny Burnette Trio, LaVern Baker, Cirino and the Bowties.
The plot s rather simple: Tuesday Weld, playing a normal teenager for a change, must raise $30 to buy a strapless evening dress for the biggest night of her life, the prom. Weld’s singing was dubbed by the professional Connie Francis (who also made movies as actress).
It’s all about the music, which was brand new: The rock n’ rollers, particularly Chuck Berry, are lively. Lymon and the Teenagers sing “I’m Not a Juvenile Delinquent.”
Running time: 82 Minutes.
