Sundance Film Fest 2008: Spectrum Section
Avery Allan Ludlow (Brian Cox) is haunted by the past, a solitary man living just outside the threshold of a world that seems empty to him. His only companion, a 14 year-old dog aptly named Red by his late wife, is the center of his world and his sole source of purpose and happiness.
However, in the blink of an eye everything can change, and Avery knows this well, for he has seen his potential for happiness crumble again and again. But even pessimistic Avery cannot anticipate or explain the consequences of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Everything seems to be going fairly well at his favorite fishing spot one day–until three boys and their shotgun come along. In an instant, his lifelong friend is gone, the victim of a malicious, meaningless act. As Avery's sadness turns to a single-minded quest for justice and redemption, he considers his options within, and perhaps outside, the law.
