Raiders of The Lost Ark (1981): Heist Scene–Great Movie Beginnings

Raiders  •  The Boulder Chase
The opening might be the best scene of the Indiana Jones franchise, a seductive invitation to enter the strange, unfamiliar world of archaeological artifacts.

A thrilling heist scene begins the movie, which became a franchise, directed by Oscar winners Spielberg (“Jaws”) and producr George Lucas (“Star Wars”).

The adventure is captivating, from the Star Wars-esque John Williams melodic score to the swashbuckling Harrison Ford, who is effortlessly charming, to the lowering wall.

The scene has booby traps, backstabbing, and even death. But it manages to keep a lighthearted, adventurous tone, in large part due to Harrison Ford’s cool demeanor.

The first Raiders is considered to be one of the best adventure movies of all time, one with long-enduring effects on mainstream Hollywoood and on popular cuoture at large.
