The former president sat down with journalist Scott Pelley for an interview on CBS’ ’60 Minutes.’

In a preview clip of an interview on CBS’ 60 Minutes, Barack Obama discussed President Trump’s widespread claims of election fraud with journalist Scott Pelley, noting that Republicans are going down a “dangerous path.”

Asked about the root of the claims and their impact, Obama said that they “appear to be motivated, in part, because the president doesn’t like to lose and never admits loss. He added, “I’m more troubled by the other officials who clearly know better are going along with this, are humoring him in this fashion.”

The former president went on to say, “It is one more step in delegitimizing not just the incoming Biden administration, but democracy generally. And that’s a dangerous path.”

Following his win in the state of Pennsylvania, Joe Biden was projected to win the 2020 presidential election by the Associated Press on Nov. 7, which would send Trump back to the private sector after his four-year term.

Since then and even before, Trump has repeatedly tweeted about fake ballots, glitches in the voting system and an overall “rigged” election, refusing to concede and vowing to fight the result in the Supreme Court. There have been no proven cases of widespread fraud thus far.

Obama’s full interview on 60 Minutes, where he will speak about his memoir A Promised Land, will air Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. ET on CBS.
