This offbeat religious drama, based on a controversial book by Hugh J. Schonfield, depicts Christ as more of a zealous political activist than a religious figure.
The story follows the adult life of Jesus (played by Zalman King) as a revolutionary who actively battles the Roman, suggesting that he and his disciples carefully planned his own crucifixion and resurrection in order to gain political clout against the Roman invaders.
The secondary cast includes Harry Andrews as John the Baptist, Hugh Griffith as Caiaphas, and Donald Pleasance as Pontius Pilate.
