One Day Pina Asked: Chantal Akerman’s Poignant Portrait of the Legendary German Choreographer Pina Bausch

“One Day Pina Asked” is Chantal Akerman’s poignant portrait of the late legendary German choreographer Pina Bausch.

It presents an encounter between two of the most remarkable and creative female artists of the 20th century.

The feature captures the company’s rehearsals and performances over a five-week European tour in 1983.

Akerman also shows us excerpts from performances of Bausch dances, all recorded with Akerman’s singular thematic vision and visual touch.

“One Day Pina Asked” is a nice companion piece to German director Wim Wenders’ “3-D Pina.”
Akerman’s film will be released on home video by Icarus Films on October 28, 2014.
