On the Riviera (1951): Walter Lang’s Oscar-Nominated Musical Starring Danny Kaye

In this musical lavish comedy, directed by Walter Lang, Dany Kaye is cast in dual role, as ab entertainer and as the war he physically resembles.   The former is persuaded to pose as the latter in this remake of Follies Bergere.

The script is written by Valentine Davies, Phoebe Ephron and Henry Ephron (parents of director Nora Ephron).

Production values are good, especially photography by Leon Shamroy.

The cast also includes Gene Tierney, Corinne Calvet, and Marcel Dalio.
