Winner of the Golden Bear for best film at the 2017 Berlin Film Fest, ON BODY AND SOUL tells the story of Endre and Maria, two mismatched strangers who meet while working at a slaughterhouse.
Soon the two femmes are astonished to discover that they are sharing the same wondrous dream in their sleep every night.
Question is: Can the two achieve the same level of harmony during the day when they are together?
Written and directed by the gifted Ildikó Enyedi (My Twentieth Century; Simon, the Magician), the Hungarian film also won the FIPRESCI Prize and the Ecumenical Jury Prize .
In June, ON BODY AND SOUL won the Sydney Film Prize from the Sydney Film Festival, making Enyedi the first woman and the first Hungarian to receive that award.
The film had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and recently won the Mumbai Film Festival Audience Choice Award.
The European Film Awards have nominated ON BODY AND SOUL in four categories: Best European Film, Best European Director, Best European Screenwriter and Best European Actress.
