My Wild Irish Rose (1947): Musical Biopic of Chauncey Olcott

 Warner

In David Butler’s musical biopic, second banana Dennis Morgan plays the real-life musician Chauncey Olcott, who wrote (among other things) the famous song, “My Wild Irish Rose.”

Miller’s leading lady is Arlene Dahl.  The supporting cast includes Alan Hale, Sara Allgood, Ben Blue, and William Frawley.

The movie is a second rate, too sentimental and nostalgic biopic, even by standards of the genre in the 1940s.
