Reese Witherspoon is teaming with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage on the project, which is in development at the streamer.

Amazon is teaming with Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine banner to develop Legally Blonde TV series.
My Oscar Book:
Gossip Girl and The O.C. grads Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are attached to write the TV offshoot, whose premise is being kept under wraps.
Schwartz and Savage and their Fake Empire banner, Witherspoon and Hello Sunshine’s Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt and Amazon MGM Studios are all producing the potential offshoot.

It’s unclear if Witherspoon has any plans to reprise her role as Elle Woods in the potential TV series, which comes as Amazon has been scouring the MGM library to for titles to revive since acquiring the storied studio a few years ago.
The streamer and Hello Sunshine are looking to turn the Legally Blonde films into a multiple-show franchise with a second potential offshoot also in its early stages.
Schwartz and Savage’s credits include updates of Dynasty and Nancy Drew, both for The CW, as well as Apple’s City on Fire.
Witherspoon’s ties with Amazon go back to Daisy Jones and the Six.
Directed by Robert Luketic, and scripted by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, the 2001 romantic comedy, which catapulted Witherspoon to major stardom, was a smash hit, earning $142 million at the box-office against a budget of $18 million.
