This family comedy unexpectedly became one of the most popular movies of the decade.
Macaulay Colkin plays Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), a young boy accidentally left behind when his family takes off for a vacation in France over the holiday season.
Realizing that he’s literally left “home alone,” Kevin learns to fend for himself and, and eventually has to protect his house against two bumbling burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) who are planning to rob every house in Kevin’s suburban Chicago neighborhood.
The tale’s original premise and Culkin’s charming presence made the comedy a bonanza at the box-office, leading to remakes and pale imitations.
