Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Noomi Rapace, New International Star

Noomi Rapace is fast becoming Europe’s most popular young actress following her commanding and unnerving portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the film adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s ”Millennium” trilogy: THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO; THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE and THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET’S NEST.

She was recently nominated for a Best Actress European Film Award and won the Best Actress Guldbagge Award (Swedish Oscar) for her role in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

A renowned stage, television and screen performer, Rapace made her acting debut in the 1996 television series ”Tre kroner.” She has since appeared in over twenty motion pictures and television shows.

For her role in the 2007 Danish film DAISY DIAMOND, Rapace was honored with the Bodil Award (Danish Critics Award) and a Robert Award (Denmark’s Oscar) for Best Actress. She recently completed production on LUFTSLOTTET SOM SPRÄNGDES and SVINALÄGORNA and is slated to star in the 2010 production of CLEAN OUT.

The daughter of Flamenco singer Rogelio Durán, Rapace is married to actor Ola Rapace.
