GGlobes Rise to Mediocre Figure of 10.1 Million Viewers

That’s up 7 percent from a year ago, when CBS aired the awards for the first time since 1982.

Overall, the show lacked dynamic energy, real wit, and genuine excitement, dragging from on category to the next.

Sunday’s awards, hosted by Nikki Glaser, drew 10.1 million viewers, according to VideoAmp figures. That’s up 7 percent from a year ago, when CBS aired the awards for the first time since 1982.

Live streams on the CBS app and Paramount+ were up 9 percent from a year ago.

CBS has been using VideoAmp as its ratings provider for the past several months while in a contract dispute with Nielsen. The two companies’ measurements are generally in the same ballpark but don’t necessarily match up.

Like Sunday’s show, last year’s GG had CBS’ late afternoon NFL game as a lead-in and ran opposite the final Sunday Night Football of the season on NBC.

NBC’s SNF game delivered the network 28.5 million viewers, per Nielsen, the best number for an SNF season finale since 2012.

The improved numbers is a good sign for the awards show, which is in the middle of a five-year deal with CBS after leaving NBC, which hosted the show for decades.
