Frontier, The: Matt Rabinowitz’s Father-Son Melodrama

In The Frontier, a portrait of a turbulent relationship between father and son Sean (Max Gail), a highly regarded, now retired, academic and advocate of personal freedom, longs for a rapprochement with his estranged son, Tennessee (Coleman Kelly), who went as far away from home as he possibly could.

Now working as a ranch hand Tennessee receives a letter from his Father and senses the time has come to go home.

Meanwhile, Sean has hired an assistant Nina (Anastassia Sendyk)—resourceful, generous and beautiful— to help him compile and edit his memoirs. Entering in to this quasi family, Tennessee at first tries simply to avoid his overbearing Father by immersing himself in fix-up projects around the house.

But resentments from the past remain and tensions rise, until one night Nina leaves father, son, and a bottle of whiskey with instructions to finish the bottle and face their ghosts. Sean and Tennessee find themselves alone for the first time.
