Blast from the Past: The Fly
The Fly follows a scientist named Andre, who accidentally merges with a fly after a failed experiment.
The 1958 film, based on a short story by George Langelaan, is one of the best-known early sci-fi films.
Though Vincent Price doesn’t have the starring role, the movie was a box-office hit.
After only one year, The Fly got a sequel called Return of the Fly, with Price in the same role, but it was significantly less successful.
A notable scene from the original features a human-headed fly creature trapped in spider web, crying for help.
The movie has since gotten squashed under David Cronenberg’s immensely successful 1986 remake, The Fly, starring Jeff Goldblum and then girlfriend Geena Davis.
