The Exorcism, starring Oscar winner Russell (“Gladiator”) Crowe, opened nationwide on June 21, and bombed.
The movie, from Miramax and Vertical, stars Crowe as an actor who starts to behave irrationally on the set of his latest horror film.
His behavior prompts his daughter to investigate whether something more sinister is afoot.
The movie’s commercials prospects are looking dim after getting slapped with a D CinemaScore from audiences.
Based on early returns, the indie picture may open to $2.2 million, one of the worst wide launches of Crowe’s career.
