Escobar: Paradise Lost: Andrea Di Stefano’s Debut, Starring Benicio Del Toro

Radius has set a June 26 as the release date of Escobar: Paradise Lost, starring Benicio Del Toro in a stunning performance.

The impressive directorial debut of Italian actor Andrea Di Stefano, Escobar represents a mixture of a well-executed actioner with a touching romantic melodrama.

The real-life Escobar died in a shootout in 1993.

The tale combines the true story of Colombia’s drug king Pablo Escobar with a love story between a young Canadian surfer, played by “Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson, and Escobar’s niece (Claudia Traisac).

The film received positive reviews at the 2014 Telluride and Toronto Film Fests, and was originally slated for January 16, but was pushed back to the summer.

Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp announced at the 2015 Cannes Film Fest that it was developing an Escobar biopicture with Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.
