Plot
The tourists Greg and Heather visit Tucker’s Experience, a shark cage attraction run by the eccentric boat captain Tucker. While riding out into the ocean, Tucker remarks on how he survived shark attack as a child, which scarred him and changed his views. After the two participate in a cage dive, Tucker suddenly kills Greg and abducts Heather.
Jai Courtney is a shark-obsessed serial killer in the outrageous horror movie Dangerous Animals, which earned good reviews. Courtney plays a deranged Australian tour guide who steers out to sea and swims with the sharks.
Byrne (The Devil’s Candy) direct with such assured effectiveness that there is no time to think about the deranged premise that guides the picture.
This co-production between the U.S. and Australia world premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 2025 Cannes Film Fest.
Released by IFC, Dangerous Animals grossed over $9 million worldwide on a budget of $2 million.
