Paul Hogan and Shane Jacobson star in “Charlie & Boots” for release through Paramount and its Australian partner Transmission Films.
The comedy was penned by helmer Shane Murphy and Stewart Faichney, who worked with Hogan on “Strange Bedfellows,” which was the highest grossing picture in Australia in 2004 and the subject of a failed copyright law suit against Universal’s “I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.”
“Charlie & Boots” follows a father and son who travel from Victoria to Cape York to fulfill their lifelong ambition to fish off Australia’s northern tip.
Budgeted at about $6 million), picture was funded using Australia’s new 40% producer offset and coin from the new agency Screen Australia.
