IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women.
Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams and Laura Dern star in the drama based on short stories written by Maile Meloy, which premiered at 2016 Sundance Film Fest in January.
The film is slated for a late 2016 theatrical release.
Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino and Anish Savjani of filmscience produced the film, alongside executive producers Todd Haynes and Larry Fessenden.
“The entire team at IFC Films have long been fans of Kelly and are thrilled to finally be working with her–she is a master at her craft and one of the most distinct storytellers working in cinema today,” Sundance Selects/IFC Films President Jonathan Sehring said in a release.
“We’re thrilled to be working with IFC Films,” said in a statement. “Their enthusiasm for the film was amazing, and we very much look forward to collaborating with their team on its release this year.”
Arianna Bocco, Sundance Selects/IFC Film’s SVP of acquisitions, negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
Sony’s Stage 6 Films nabbed worldwide rights to the film before production began.
