Cannes Film Fest 2025: “Dossier 137” (“Case 137”), Starring Léa Drucker in Terrific Performance

The stunning crime drama, “Dossier 137” (translated to “Case 137”), takes place surrounding the events of yellow vest protests that began in France in 2018 and saw protesters clashing with battalions of police and reserve officers as they took to the streets of Paris en masse over the rising cost of living and economic inequality.
In the film, the great actress Léa Drucker stars as Stéphanie, a police inspector tasked with investigating a case of alleged police brutality when two officers fired riot control rounds at a young protester, and then followed the shots up with a kick to the young man’s stomach.  Their act caused permanent brain damage to the innocent victim.

In 2023, director Dominik Moll earned France’s equivalent of the Oscars (César Awards) for best film, best director and best adapted screenplay for another crime film, “The Night of the 12th.”

Here, he crafts an airtight procedural rooted in a true story. It ends with an emotional monologue from Drucker on perceived officer bias.

Although a small cheer erupted among the Cannes audience when a character questioning police motives drops an “ACAB” mention, the film meticulously addresses the challenges faced by police when investigating their own.

The detective work is thrilling to watch, with Drucker carrying the entire investigation – and the film – on her very shoulders, so she’ll likely be in award season conversation.

A U.S. release is yet to be announced.
