Bleecker Street is releasing Joe Penna’s survival thriller Arctic, starring international star Mads Mikkelsen.
Arctic world premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Fest in the Fortnight section to strong reviews.
In the survival tale, Mikkelsen plays a man stranded in the Arctic, who must decide whether to stay in the safety of his camp or embark on a dangerous trek through the unknown in hopes of making it out alive.
Penna, a first-time director, also co-wrote the film, together with Ryan Morrison.
The film was shot over the course of 19 days in Iceland.
Mads Mikkelsen, who described the film as the most difficult shoot of his career, delivers a great performance, relying less on the dialogue (which is minimal) and more on his powerful screen presence.
The feature represents a singularly cinematic experience that no other medium can convey so strikingly.
