Upon his first release from prison, Peterson began a brief career as a bare-knuckle boxer, adopting the name Charles Bronson.
The film follows his experience of having his personality gradually diverge into this new character.
Hardy delivers several theatrical soliloquies directly to the camera and recounts stories from Bronson’s life as they play out on screen.
The film is focused on Bronson’s life, the time spent in solitary confinement where his mental health declines.
Tom Hardy excels as an unstable and confused man who is prone to outbursts and unpredictable in his actions.
The real man upon which the story is based has spent much of his life in prison and due to his violent actions, continued to extend his sentence spending years in psychiatric hospitals around the UK.
