A. Edward Sutherland helmed The Boys from Syracuse, a musical based on a stage production by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, which in turn was based on Shakespeare’s play The Comedy of Errors.

The Interior Decoratio Oscar went to “Pride and Prejudice.”  The Special Effects Award went to “The Thief of Bagdad,” for duplicating Allan Jones (the masters) and Joe Penner (the slaves).
