Netflix has acquired worldwide streaming rights to the SXSW documentary, Asperger’s Are Us.
The film follows a Boston comedy group that shares its name with the movie’s title.
The feature comes from cinematographer turned first-time director Alex Lehmann.
The project was executive produced by the Duplass Brothers and produced by Sean Bradley and Chris Dowling.
“I spent most of my nights searching Netflix for new and interesting documentaries,” said Mark Duplass in a statement. He added that the film had “found the perfect place to be discovered around the world.”
“Asperger’s Like Us” premieres at SXSW on Saturday morning.
The deal with Netflix was negotiated by ICM Partners and Submarine.
Netflix, which has been active in acquiring rights to projects at film fests like Sundance, has also picked rights to the horror film Hush out of SXSW.
