Ali Baba Goes to Town (1937): David Butler’s Oscar-Nominated Musical Adventure, Starring Eddie Cantor

In this musical adventure, produced by Fox, Eddie Cantor travels back in time and encounters a host of colorful characters, played by Louise Hovick (aka Gypsy Rose Lee), Tony Martin, Roland Young, and even Shirely Temple.

Directed by David Butler, the picture was designed as a star vehicle for Cantor, who was very popular at the time.
