The latest: Glen Powell, 33, appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday, said that he threw up during a rambunctious sequence as he got acclimated to flying in jets in preparation for Top Gun: Maverick

‘We’re flying like 100 feet off the ground – 500 knots,’ said Powell, who plays Hangman in the forthcoming summer blockbuster film. ‘Weaving through these canyons, you invert, you re-orient, you come back, you drop a bomb, you pull up, seven and a half Gs.

And you’re doing it over and over and over. And at one point, I was like, “OK, I’m gonna puke.”‘

‘I’m like the actor in the back of the plane, I didn’t want to be that guy,’ said Powell, who has also been seen in films such as Hidden Figures, Everybody Wants Some!! and The Dark Knight Rises.

Powell reassured the pilot he would be ‘good’ and ‘ready to rock and roll,’ at which point he could no longer hold back.

Powell said the pilot could not hear him because he’d taken off his mask, which had a microphone in it.

‘As I’m violently puking in this bag, I just hear in my comms, “Well buddy, if you’re ready to rock and roll, let’s rock and roll.” And he just inverts the plane, pulls down.

Powell said that he wound up 'violently' vomiting after he couldn't take the nausea any further

‘And so I’m just puking into the campy and I’m looking at the ground here, and the puke that I just puked is being puked back into my face.’
Kimmel joked, ‘Oh, a recirculation.’

Powell concluded: ‘That’s what it’s like to make Top Gun.’

Top Gun: Maverick, which features Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, Val Kilmer and Jon Hamm, hits theaters May 27.
