Castle of Purity, The (1972): Arturo Ripstein’s Powerful Mexican Drama

The Castle of Purity (El castillo de la pureza), the powerful Mexican drama film, was directed by Arturo Ripstein in his second outing.

The film depicts a man who keeps his family isolated in his home for years in order “to protect them from “the evil nature of human beings,” while he and his wife invent rat poison

Nominated in ten categories by the Ariel Awards (the Mexican Oscars),  the movie earned five.
